Saxony-Anhalt: 2.5 million corona tests from remaining stocks

Saxony-Anhalt is currently providing daycare centers and schools as well as retirement and nursing homes with corona tests again. "A total of 2.5 million tests are available," said a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Social Affairs in response to an inquiry. They are also available for facilities for the disabled and health schools as well as for state authorities. Delivery to the facilities is currently underway and should be completed by mid-December 2023.

With regard to daycare centers and schools, the spokeswoman continued: "The tests delivered are intended in particular for teachers and staff and serve to contain the current increased incidence of infection." The tests were already procured by the state in January 2023. "The tests currently being delivered are remaining stocks. No further purchases are planned," said the spokesperson.

The provision of coronavirus tests in Saxony-Anhalt extends to Kindergartens, as they are considered essential facilities along with schools, daycare centers, retirement homes, nursing homes, facilities for the disabled, and health schools. The availability of these tests aims to address the escalating prevalence of Covid-19, particularly among teachers and staff in educational institutions. The current stock of tests is a remnant from early 2023, with no plans for further procurement at present.
