Roof truss fire in Bochum: One person found dead
While extinguishing a fire in a roof truss in Bochum, emergency services discovered a dead person. The body was found in the attic area of the residential and commercial building on Wednesday evening, according to a fire department spokesperson. The spokesperson was initially unable to provide any information on the identity of the deceased.
The attic had caught fire in the evening. Flames were leaping from the outer layer of the roof, it was reported. Three people were rescued from the house in the Wattenscheid district by the emergency services, the spokesperson said. One resident was taken to hospital on suspicion of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire was initially unclear. A total of 60 fire and rescue service personnel were deployed to the scene. According to the spokesperson, the building is uninhabitable.
