Cooling Down for the Galapagos Titans in Rostock Zoo: The massive reptiles are being sprayed with chilly water in their outdoor habitat due to the scorching summer heat in Rostock, where temperatures reach approximately 30 degrees. Known for their lethargy, these Galapagos titans can snooze for as long as 16 hours each day.

Measuring around 120 centimeters long, they can tip the scales at a whopping 300 kilograms, making them among the heaviest land tortoises globally, as per the zoo's information. Their longevity is equally astonishing, boasting an average life span of around 150 years.

In the Rostock Zoo, the Galapagos titans reside in spacious outdoor enclosures to accommodate their large size. To ensure their comfort during summer, these outdoor enclosures are equipped with water sprinklers to provide relief from the high temperatures.
