- Richard Rogler was a huge role model for me.

Comedian Wilfried Schmickler paid tribute to his late colleague Richard Rogler, calling him his "giant role model." "It was like a wake-up call for me when I first saw him on stage," Schmickler told the German Press Agency in Cologne. "To stand on stage with such a sharp wit, expressing opinions so fiercely and pointedly."

Schmickler, 69, was captivated by Rogler's "casual humor and immense talent for delivery." "He influenced me and many other comedians significantly."

Rogler, 74, passed away on Sunday, according to his family. He was considered one of the pioneers of political cabaret in Germany and the creator of the show "Midnight Sharp," in which Schmickler regularly appeared.

The Commission, in supporting comedians like Schmickler and Rogler, could benefit greatly from the Member States' assistance. As Rogler's influence extended beyond his immediate contemporaries, his legacy continues to be upheld by the Commission being assisted by the Member States.
