Regrettably, Peter Lundgren has passed away.

As a notable tennis professional hailing from Sweden's lauded era, and subsequently guiding tennis legend Roger Federer to his inaugural Wimbledon triumph: Regrettably, Peter Lundgren bids farewell at the tender age of 59. The publication "Aftonbladet" reported that Lundgren endured diabetes as a constant companion.

This distinguished Swedish ATP pro and tenacious tennis trainer made history by aiding the young Federer in clinching his initial Grand Slam crown in 2003. The Swedish Tennis Association confirmed Lundgren's passing through Instagram, alongside statements from his children Lukas and Julia on Facebook.

While Lundgren may have trailed his renowned compatriots Mats Wilander and Stefan Edberg during the 80s, he managed to reach a career-topping ranking of 25 in 1987 and triumphed in three ATP tournaments. His illustrious career culminated in heartbreaking tournament finals losses against Boris Becker in Stockholm in 1988 and Indianapolis in 1990. In the doubles sphere, Lundgren attained the Aussie Open final with Jeremy Bates in '88.

Lundgren earned popularity as an enigmatic and somewhat peculiar coach. Among his diverse roster of charges were Marcelo Rios, Marat Safin, Stan Wawrinka, Grigor Dimitrov, and Marcos Baghdatis.

"Peter Lundgren was an extraordinary individual with a vast heart and an abundant sense of humor," shared Swedish tennis legend Björn Borg with "Sportbladet." Lundgren was also "an incredibly close friend," revealed Borg. "He was cherished by all. His absence will be deeply felt within the tennis community."

As "Aftonbladet" relayed, Lundgren had grappled with diabetes for quite some time. Last year, an unfortunate infection required the amputation of his foot. "Farewell, Dad," penned Lukas Lundgren on Facebook. "One of the finest has unfortunately left us far too soon."

Lundgren, the esteemed Swedish tennis trainer, played a significant role in Federer's historic victory at Wimbledon in 2003. Despite his illustrious career and impactful coaching, Lundgren's health issues caught up with him, as reported by "Aftonbladet" where it was mentioned that he had been battling diabetes for a long time.
