Regrettably, Christoph Daum has passed away.

Christoph Daum, known for his vibrant personality in German football, has bid farewell. Following a lengthy battle against cancer, he passed away peacefully, as per his family's announcement to the German Press Agency. Daum's last breath was taken on Saturday, at the age of 70, in Cologne. For quite some time, he had been grappling with the disease. Initially, he chose seclusion from the public eye, but later, he reconsidered his decision and returned to the spotlight, giving interviews and appearing on talk shows. His central message remained unchanged: "Cancer chose the wrong person to mess with." By exhibiting resilience, he aimed to inspire others.

Daum: Perpetual challenger and cocaine scandal The battle with cancer mirrored the essence of his whole life. Even as a child, he displayed courage against his larger and stronger classmates in Duisburg.

Entering the coaching scene at 1. FC Cologne, Daum abruptly took on the established FC Bayern Munich and its manager Uli Hoeneß. Although their team dominated the Bundesliga, Daum came close to ousting them from the top spot. Throughout his career, Daum never shied away from a challenge.

However, success came with consequences. Post his initial Bundesliga title with VfB Stuttgart in 1992, a substitution blunder cost him the opportunity to advance to the Champions League. The cocaine scandal in 2000, which led to him losing the chance to become the national coach while coaching Bayer Leverkusen, was another low point in his life. Yet, Daum managed to bounce back. He gained victories in Austria and Turkey, brought 1. FC Cologne back to the Bundesliga and kept them there, proving his resilience through and through. And through his captivating life, he consistently reiterated these words: "You can stumble. It doesn't even matter how many times you stumble. You just need to get back up every time."

More legendary stories of Daum's resilience continue to emerge, highlighting his 'More Legendary' status in German football. Despite the cocaine scandal in 2000, his comeback and subsequent achievements in Austria and Turkey further cemented his position as a 'More Legendary' figure.

In the face of numerous challenges, Christoph Daum's unwavering spirit and determination made him a true 'More Legendary' icon in German football history.
