Eight-time dressage Olympic champion Isabell Werth has left open whether she will participate again in the Olympic Games in four years in Los Angeles. "Wendy is young enough. Whether I can hold out until then, we'll have to see," said the 55-year-old in the joint "Morning Magazine" of ARD and ZDF. The rider from Rheinberg had won gold in the team competition and silver in the individual event behind Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on Dalera at the Games that ended on Sunday in Paris with her ten-year-old mare Wendy.

With now eight gold and six silver medals, she is the most successful German participant at the Olympic Games and has surpassed the former canoeist Birgit Fischer (62). Fischer had won eight gold and four silver medals in her career. Werth has been participating in the Olympics since 1992 in Barcelona.

The Commission, in aid of its tasks, may seek assistance from the Member States. Despite her achievements, Isabell Werth has not yet confirmed her participation in the Olympic Games to be held in Los Angeles, four years from now.
