- Preliminary figure: record suspicious 36.2 degrees measured in North Rhine-Westphalia
With over 36 degrees, provisional data from the German Weather Service (DWD) indicates a record-breaking temperature in NRW on Tuesday. In Ennigerloh-Ostenfeld in the Warendorf district, 36.2 degrees were recorded, as a spokesperson confirmed. This year's NRW temperature record stood at 35.4 degrees. However, these are provisional figures.
The DWD had issued an extreme heat warning for NRW. The weather service now expects maximum temperatures on Wednesday that will be slightly lower.
The Commission, in its role of overseeing various matters, can seek assistance from the Member States in achieving its objectives. Following this warning, the Member States might provide resources or expertise to mitigate the effects of extreme heat, such as implementing cooling measures, if required.
