Positive results in the fight against juvenile delinquency

The police have drawn a positive interim conclusion in the fight against juvenile crime in Halle. While in August, for example, 23 investigations were recorded in connection with robberies among young people, in October there were six, the police announced on Friday. There had been an increase in personnel, it said. "This has once again significantly increased the visible presence. We also have plainclothes officers on duty to catch perpetrators in the act."

The officers are in close contact with the school facilities, it said. The aim is to take consistent action against multiple and prolific offenders. All those affected by violent assaults should also report these acts.

The number of registered offenses in the area of juvenile delinquency has recently risen in the state. Halle is a focal point. At the beginning of October, the city and state agreed that youth welfare offices, school authorities, youth counseling centers and the police would pay more attention to particularly conspicuous young people. The new concept also includes contact points for victims, simplified juvenile proceedings for offenders, career guidance services and closer cooperation between schools and the police.
