On June 13, key events include the G7 summit, Florida floods, Trump attending an event in DC, ongoing tensions in Gaza, and a lawsuit against SpaceX.

Today's news: 5 Things to know to start your day.

1. G7 Summit

World leaders from the G7 countries are meeting today in Italy to discuss crucial policies. Among the topics is Russia and the ongoing war in Ukraine. The group is planning a series of joint initiatives to address the situation. President Biden arrived with 300 new sanctions aimed at further isolating Russia. He also intends to sign a 10-year security pact with Ukraine that involves training their military, cooperating in the production of weapons and military equipment, providing military assistance, and sharing intelligence.

2. Florida Floods

Millions are under flood watches in Florida due to recurring torrential rain. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for Broward, Collier, Lee, Miami-Dade, and Sarasota counties. This follows flood disruptions on Wednesday that impacted interstates, roadways, schools, and airports. Fort Lauderdale, where the mayor also declared a local state of emergency, received almost a month's worth of rain in one day. Locals are advised not to drive through muddy floodwaters and to stay home.

3. Trump in DC

Former President Donald Trump is set to meet with Republicans on Capitol Hill today for the first time since being declared the presumptive Republican nominee. He'll be meeting with key GOP lawmakers, vice presidential hopefuls, and even some former outspoken opponents. Trump is attempting to garner support in the party by holding a series of closed-door meetings.

4. Gaza

Israel's military denies striking a safe area in southern Gaza despite reports from the official Palestinian news agency WAFA of land, sea, and air strikes in Al-Mawasi, a refugee camp. Details about casualties aren't clear. Over 500,000 people inhabit Al-Mawasi, and the camp expanded due to Israeli forces ordering people in Rafah to move there. A ceasefire proposal for Gaza is still in limbo, as neither Israel nor Hamas has publicly committed to it.

5. SpaceX Sued

SpaceX and CEO Elon Musk are being sued by former employees accusing the company of gender discrimination and sexual harassment. The lawsuit was filed by eight former employees who were fired in 2022. They claim Musk runs his company in a discriminatory manner, evaluating women by their bra size and making lewd sexual comments. CNN awaits a response from SpaceX.
