Nockemann confirmed as Hamburg AfD leader
Dirk Nockemann has been elected by a large majority as the state chairman of the Hamburg AfD for a further two years. The 65-year-old received 95 percent of the votes at a state party conference on Saturday. 82 AfD members voted for him, 4 against. There was no opposing candidate. In the last election two years ago, Nockemann received 78% of the vote. He has been the head of the Hamburg AfD regional association since 2017.
There were also no changes to the deputies: Members of the Hamburg Parliament Krzysztof Walczak and Alexander Wolf were re-elected, as was former MP Joachim Körner. Peggy Heitmann remains treasurer.
The successful re-election of Dirk Nockemann as Hamburg AfD leader indicates strong support for his party's views among its members. The AfD will continue to be a formidable force in local politics with Nockemann at its helm, given his high approval ratings.
