Tom Hanks (68) and his wife Rita Wilson (67) are the latest victims of a string of burglaries that have been causing unrest among prominent villa owners in Los Angeles for months. According to the US gossip portal "TMZ", a guest house on their property was broken into a few weeks ago. This is reported by insiders from the US law enforcement agencies.

The incident, in which the thieves allegedly gained access by breaking a window, occurred during the day. Even an activated alarm did not deter the burglars. The main house on Hanks' property was left untouched. The Hollywood couple was also not at home at the time of the burglary.

It is also unclear whether anything was stolen. According to "TMZ", many gangs are currently active in the area around Los Angeles, driving up burglary numbers. So far, no arrests have been made in the case of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, and the police are still investigating.

Sarah Hyland and more: Celebrity burglary victims

In recent months, there have been numerous reports of burglaries at stars living in Los Angeles. "TMZ" recently reported at the beginning of August about a Sarah Hyland (33) burglary. She reportedly had to watch helplessly as two masked burglars gained access to her house. She was not at home at the time but witnessed the situation live via her security cameras. The burglars have not been caught yet.

Two burglars also allegedly broke into the house of "Scary Movie" star Marlon Wayans (52) at the beginning of July. Here, too, access was gained through a broken window - but in the middle of the night at half past two in the morning. Wayans himself was not at home, but his brother was, who was awakened by a noise but didn't think anything of it. According to "TMZ", it was found out the next morning that the burglars had stolen a safe and several thousand dollars.

Another burglary is also said to have taken place at US rapper Bhad Bhabie (21) in mid-July. Her back door was broken into - the burglars allegedly took items like handbags and jewelry, according to "TMZ". She had recently announced that she had already earned 57 million dollars through her account on the erotic platform OnlyFans.

Goldie Hawn no longer feels safe in Los Angeles

In June, Hollywood star Goldie Hawn (78) also said that she and her partner Kurt Russell (73) no longer feel safe on their property in Los Angeles. She told this to Kelly Ripa (53) in her podcast "Let's Talk Off Camera". In 2020, there were two burglaries in her house. Since then, she has hired a 24/7 security service to ensure that she and her family are safe. "I'm never without a guard... especially when I'm alone," she told Ripa.

Hawn and Russell now live 131 miles (about 211 km) outside of Los Angeles in Palm Desert, California. In the podcast, she raved about finally feeling "safe" there after years of struggling with the "terrible" Los Angeles.

After a reported break-in at their guest house, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson joined the list of celebrities who have fallen victim to burglaries in Los Angeles. Similarly, in early July, "Scary Movie" star Marlon Wayans also experienced a break-in at his residence, with burglars stealing a safe and thousands of dollars.
