According to the US gossip portal "TMZ", a guest house on their property was broken into a few weeks ago. This is reported by insiders from the US law enforcement agencies.
The incident, in which the thieves allegedly gained access by breaking a window, occurred during the day. Even an activated alarm did not deter the burglars. The main house on Hanks' property was left untouched. The Hollywood couple was also not at home at the time of the burglary.
It is also unclear whether anything was stolen. According to "TMZ", many gangs are currently active in the area around Los Angeles, driving up burglary numbers. So far, no arrests have been made in the case of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, and the police are still investigating.
