- National team player Beier and BVB agree - replacement poker begins
Football national player Maximilian Beier has reportedly decided to join Borussia Dortmund, according to "Bild". The Bundesliga club and the 21-year-old from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are said to have reached an agreement. Beier is expected to replace national striker Niclas Füllkrug, who has moved to West Ham United, in Dortmund's attack. His contract with the Kraichgauern runs until June 30, 2027, and is said to include a release clause of 30 million euros.
According to "Bild" information, Dortmund is preparing an initial offer of around 25 million euros. However, the club wants to spend only as much as it earned from the Füllkrug transfer. Media reports suggest that the BVB received 27 million euros for Füllkrug, with an additional five million euros possible through bonuses.
Ricken: Beier is a good player
Beier scored 16 goals last season and is versatile in attack. "That Maximilian Beier is a good player, that's not just known to Hoffenheim and us, but to many others as well. He's a player from another club. Of course, there's a dynamic involved because we've given away Niclas Füllkrug. Of course, we're prepared for such scenarios, but you can't implement them within a day," said managing director Lars Ricken recently.
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and other clubs have shown interest in securing Maximilian Beier's services, given his impressive performance and the release clause on his contract. With Borussia Dortmund currently focusing on spending only as much as they've earned from Niclas Füllkrug's transfer, other clubs might see an opportunity to negotiate a deal for Beier.
