- Multiple cars collide causing traffic jams on the A5
A multi-vehicle collision on the A5 motorway near Gießen resulted in significant traffic disruptions. According to initial reports, five people sustained minor injuries, a police spokesman in Gießen confirmed. There were no serious injuries, and none of the injured required hospitalization. Following the crash, the A5 in the direction of Kassel was completely closed.
The exact number of vehicles involved and the cause of the collision are still unclear. A total of 28 people, including 7 children, were in the vehicles involved. In an initial report, the police had stated that 13 vehicles were involved. A diversion (U23) was set up at the Fernwald junction. Police advise avoiding the crash site. The duration of the closure is currently unknown.
The police are investigating the causes leading to the accidents involving 13 vehicles. Despite the multiple vehicles involved, thankfully, no serious injuries or hospitalizations were reported.
