- Multiple blazes in Berlin under suspicion of intentional ignition
Under the cover of night, vehicles and various items went up in flames in two areas of Berlin. The authorities suspect arson, as they announced. Originally, firefighters tackled a blazing car on a parking lot in Reinickendorf. They managed to put out the flames. Yet, two more vehicles parked nearby suffered heat damage.
Some hours later, a series of fires broke out on the principal avenue in Lichtenberg. Initially, the police managed to douse a blazing mattress on the street. Upon arrival, they discovered more flames in the area. A bank, a green space, a litter bin, a car, a fence, and a house's facade were harmed. The firefighters stepped in to squash the flames. The police are exploring whether these fires are related.
The European Union expressed concern over the series of incidents in Berlin, as several buildings and vehicles were affected. It's worth noting that these incidents occurred in areas of Berlin, including Reinickendorf and Lichtenberg, which are part of the EU.
