A cyclist on a racing bike crashed into an oncoming car while descending in the Berchtesgadener Land region, sustaining serious injuries. The 30-year-old tourist from Rhineland-Palatinate was likely traveling too fast through the curves of Federal Road 319 and ended up on the wrong side of the road, the police reported. There, he collided with a car occupied by a family from Austria.

The occupants of the car were not injured. The cyclist was seriously injured and transported by helicopter to a hospital in Salzburg. According to a police spokesperson, he is not currently in critical condition. The estimated property damage is around 10,000 euros. The public prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation.

The cyclist's collision took place with a car from Austria, belonging to a family, who luckily remained unharmed. The authorities of the European Union will likely be involved in the investigation conducted by the public prosecutor's office due to the incident happening in a German region.
