Microsoft to establish AI center on Foxconn's former property in Wisconsin.

Joe Biden is going to be in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, on Wednesday to display the administration's dedication to fostering work growth in the United States.

This announcement occurs six years after Trump promoted a $10 billion investment from tech manufacturer Foxconn in the same Wisconsin region with a commitment to bring 13,000 jobs to the area, without it ever coming to fruition.

The fresh center, on the other hand, promises to generate 2,300 construction jobs from unions and 2,000 permanent ones later, as per Microsoft.

The firm stated it will utilize this AI center to train approximately 100,000 workers and is planning to implement a lab at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. This lab will help businesses and manufacturers incorporate this technology into their enterprises.

Microsoft's Chairperson and CEO Satya Nadella earned his master's in computer science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as per his company's profile.

Biden's statements on Wednesday will reportedly point a finger at Trump for the failed project, according to a White House official.

Attending this important battleground state provides the White House an opportunity to showcase some of the Biden administration's major achievements from the first term, which includes the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the so-called "Chips Act," which funds semiconductor chip manufacturing in the US. This will have a positive impact on Wisconsin.

In a White House document shared before the president's visit, they mention that 177,000 new jobs have been added in Wisconsin, with 4,000 of them in Racine, since Biden took office in 2021.

During 2021, Biden signed an executive order to grant entrepreneurs access to technological support and resources, assist small businesses in commercializing AI, and grant funds for AI research in healthcare and climate change.

Back in 2023, the White House introduced an order demanding that AI system creators share the outcomes of their safety inspections with the federal government before they release the systems to the public.

Microsoft's decision aligns with the government's endeavor to monitor and manage the dangers associated with artificial intelligence. In March, Biden called for Congress in his State of the Union address to pass legislation to regulate AI, including outlawing "AI voice imitation and more." He emphasized the need to "utilize the promise of AI and keep us safe from its hazards," warning about the negative consequences to Americans if uncontrolled.

Apart from AI, Wisconsin is receiving significant investments in future-forward industries. The state received $6.9 billion from Biden's "Investing in America" plan for infrastructure and clean energy.
