TV star Michael Schanze (77) mourns the loss of his partner Uschi Köhl. "I'm currently struggling in very rough waters," he told Bild. He found Köhl at their shared home in Munich on Monday afternoon. "The doctor said Uschi had no chance anyway," said Schanze. "An autopsy revealed massive brain hemorrhaging." When asked by the German Press Agency, Schanze confirmed Köhl's death and the cause.

Schanze, who once hosted shows like "1, 2 oder 3", "Flitterabend" or "Kinderquatsch mit Michael", separated from his then-wife, with whom he has three sons, in 1996. The couple later divorced.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Schanze lived a largely reclusive life. After suffering a bilateral pulmonary embolism in 2019 and fighting his way back to life for months, he was considered part of the risk group. His partner Uschi was his "point of contact" with the outside world during this time.

Despite living a largely reclusive life during the COVID-19 pandemic and being part of the risk group following a health scare in 2019, Uschi remained Schanze's "point of contact" with the outside world.
