The son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit was briefly detained due to an alleged act of violence. Norwegian media reports suggest that the 27-year-old allegedly assaulted a woman both physically and psychologically on Saturday night. The Norwegian newspaper "Se og Hør" speculated that the alleged victim could be influencer and surfer Rebecca Helberg Arntsen, with whom the Crown Prince's son had recently been seen together on social media. Under a photo with her, he wrote: "My girl."

The police confirmed the incident but did not reveal any names. According to the report, the alleged victim is between 20 and 30 years old. She was able to escape from the apartment in Oslo's Frogner Street and subsequently contacted the police. During an examination at the hospital, doctors diagnosed her with a concussion. She had to stay in the clinic for two days but was released on Monday, the newspaper reported further.

Marius Borg Høiby was taken into custody on Saturday night and spent nearly two days in detention. The authorities reportedly conducted a routine blood test to rule out drug influence. The son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit has not yet commented on the case. His lawyer Øyvind Bratlien told the newspaper "VG" that his client is "charged with bodily injury." The Norwegian royal court has not yet commented on the reports.

Marius Borg Høiby was taken out of the city after the incident

After his release, the royal household reportedly arranged for him to be quickly removed from the city and the public eye. According to reports, Marius Borg Høiby is currently at the Skaugum estate, the residence of the Crown Prince family, about 25 kilometers from Oslo.

The incident has disrupted the schedule of the Norwegian royal family. On Tuesday, the Crown Prince couple Haakon and Mette-Marit were supposed to travel to Paris for the Olympic Games. However, Mette-Marit canceled the trip at short notice to stay with her 27-year-old son. She is said to be "shocked" by the events.

Marius Borg Høiby is the son of Mette-Marit's previous relationship with businessman Morten Borg. Marius was four years old when his mother married Prince Haakon. Although he was taken into the royal family, he was never adopted. Unlike his half-siblings Sverre Magnus and Ingrid Alexandra, the 27-year-old often makes headlines - most recently due to his relationship with Norwegian TV star Nora Haukland.
