Meloni is cognizant of schemes and treacheries prevailing in various places.

Giorgia Meloni, Italy's Prime Minister, is feeling betrayed and on edge, as suggested by anti-government media outlets. She now solely trusts her tight-knit circle composed primarily of family members. Meloni views herself and her conservative administration as pawns in power plays and underhanded schemes. As a result, she suspects shadowy forces driving the controversies surrounding Raffaele Fitto.

Fitto is a strong contender for an EU commission post in Brussels, where Meloni believes he should ascend to the position of EU Commission's Executive Vice-President. However, left-wing parties such as Social Democrats, Greens, and Liberals are fiercely opposed to this owing to Meloni's party, Fratelli d'Italia, voting against Ursula von der Leyen's re-election as EU Commission President.

The Spy Glasses Affair

Meloni's paranoia and suspicion could be dismissed as insignificant chatter. Nevertheless, this isn't the case. Recently, she decided to eliminate police officers from securing her office. Insiders reported that she now prefers having her personal bodyguards in proximity.

The motive behind this change was the scandalous liaison between Cultured Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano and Maria Rosaria Boccia. Initially, their relationship was professional-only, but as intimacy blossomed, their bond deepened. Sangiuliano had promised Boccia a valuable consulting role for prominent events, such as the G7 Cultural Summit in Naples from September 19 to 21. However, when Sangiuliano failed to follow through on his promise, Boccia retaliated by revealing the minister's secrets on her Instagram page.

This affair escalated into a controversy due to Boccia's online exposé: Through her Instagram posts, evidence shows Boccia had unrestricted access to the Italian House of Representatives. During some of these visits, she wore glasses fitted with a camera. The purpose of these glasses, the footage she recorded, whether she used them during preparatory meetings for the G7 Cultural Summit, and for whom she took these recordings remain unanswered queries.

Secretive Deals

Meloni's fixation on covert maneuvers and shady dealings was revealed during a New Year's conference held in January. At the time, she mentioned dubious conduct, businessmen, and lobbyists orchestrating against her government. When queried by journalists to elaborate, she evasively replied, "I cannot say more."

Then there was the incident in August involving Meloni's sister, Arianna, who holds a high-ranking position in Meloni's party, Fratelli d'Italia. Rumors circulated that the prosecutor's office initiated an investigation against her for unauthorized interference in high-level appointments. These allegations were reported by a government-friendly newspaper, "il Giornale." Its editor-in-chief suspected a deliberate plot by radical left-wing media with Matteo Renzi, former Prime Minister, being the supposed mastermind. Meloni agreed with this hypothesis. Renzi countered that Meloni suffered from persecution delusions.

Meloni's fears no longer concentrate only on the left-leaning media. Berlusconi's legacy and his children, specifically those controlling the Mediaset media empire, pose potential threats. Last year, a Mediaset channel exposed embarrassing behavior from Meloni's partner, TV journalist Andrea Giambruno. Meloni swiftly ended her relationship with Giambruno by announcing it on Facebook.

Recently, a Mediaset channel invited Boccia for a discussion on her affair with Sangiuliano. Persistent whispers hint that Piersilvio and Marina Berlusconi are considering heeding their father's political footsteps. Given Meloni's connection to Berlusconi's party, Forza Italia, this possibility might be her greatest concern.

The Mediaset, led by Berlusconi's children, has been scrutinized by Meloni due to their channel exposing her partner's embarrassing behavior last year. Melioring her security, Prime Minister Meloni has replaced police officers guarding her office with her personal bodyguards, a move likely influenced by the Spy Glasses Affair involving Minister Sangiuliano and Boccia.
