Health Minister's Statement - Meeting with Lauterbach: Assessing the crisis-resilience of the sector
The president of Rostock's Conference, Marek Zygmunt, anticipates receiving responses from the Federal Health Minister, Karl Lauterbach (SPD), regarding pressing inquiries from the healthcare sector this week. Potential topics could involve the recent implementation of hospital reform by the federal cabinet and the overhaul of outpatient care, per Zygmunt, who serves as the Director of the Clinic and Polyclinic for Women's Health and Obstetrics at the University Medicine Greifswald. Upcoming EU regulations concerning the approval and market release of medical products are also relevant to the economy. The complex processes and expenses associated with these regulations pose a risk, and postponing their implementation may result in numerous organizations abandoning the EU.
Maintaining the resilience of the healthcare industry represents significant challenges in Germany. "The healthcare sector is a perpetually evolving field, especially during transitional periods, and the aftermath often involves friction and disagreements," asserted Zygmunt. He stressed the necessity of openly discussing the future landscape of healthcare - or the desired future - and how the alterations in the sector will influence the economic growth of Germany.
The conference, entitled "#Healthcare2024. Resilient. Sustainable," is slated to feature an appearance from Minister President Manuela Schwesig (SPD). The event, organized by BioCon Valley network on behalf of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is projected to draw numerous attendees from throughout Germany and beyond. Lithuania is the designated partner country for the conference.
