Many people in Germany are not going to the beach

Many people in Germany, due to discomfort in their bodies, opt out of beach holidays, according to a survey. Nearly one-third of women and over one-fourth of men avoid this unpleasant situation, as shown by a representative survey conducted by the health insurance company Pronova BKK.

Around 1,600 women and men aged 18 and above participated in the online survey in April, with the results being published in Leverkusen. Especially women try to conceal disliked body parts: 75% of respondents reported doing so as much as possible. For men, the figure stands at 47%.

The younger generation is particularly critical of themselves: 71% of those aged 18-29 reportedly take active steps before holidays to change their physical appearance. Over half (53%) of those under 30 are also open to cosmetic procedures. According to the survey, 18% have already had minor procedures, such as Botox injections, done specifically for a holiday. 15% in this age group even chose to have major cosmetic surgeries, like liposuction or facelifts, before going on holiday.

Despite the discomfort reported by many, beach holidays remain popular choices for many Germans. However, a significant number of individuals, such as 32% of women and 26% of men, choose to forgo these trips due to body image concerns, as indicated by the survey.
