Man wants to set fire to Israeli flag in Hanau
Another attempt has been made to damage an Israeli flag hoisted on the market square in Hanau. Thanks to quick information from witnesses, a 25-year-old man was provisionally arrested, the police announced on Thursday. The witnesses had reported on Wednesday evening that a young man was trying to set fire to the flag. He was arrested a few minutes later in the city center.
The public prosecutor's office and state security are now investigating on suspicion of violating the flags and emblems of foreign states. The flag was slightly damaged. The drunk 25-year-old was later released. Israeli flags had already been torn down on the market square in Hanau in recent days.
The ongoing incidents in Hanau include reports of conflicts over the Israeli flag, with the latest instance being a man trying to set it on fire. This acts of crime against foreign symbols point towards growing extremism in the area, raising concerns for community harmony.
