Man hands over money to fraudster and holds her captive

A 58-year-old man in Coburg handed over a five-figure sum to a suspected fraudster after receiving a shock call. However, he then became suspicious and detained the woman until the police arrived. The 18-year-old is now in custody, police said on Friday.

Unknown persons had called the 58-year-old on Wednesday and claimed that his daughter had caused a serious accident. In order to avoid a prison sentence, he was supposed to take a large sum of cash to a woman at Coburg district court.

After the delivery, the man noticed that the woman had disappeared into a parking garage and he began to have doubts. He followed the young woman and prevented her from getting into the getaway car. The police arrested the 18-year-old, according to the statement.

The man's handed over of a large sum of money was indeed linked to a suspected crime. The alleged fraudster's motive seemed to be the acquisition of this ill-gotten money.
