To begin with, the initial accusation was for manslaughter. Nevertheless, substantial proof surfaced throughout the trial, suggesting a homicide fueled by supposedly inferior desires.

In their final arguments, the prosecution and the concerned party pushed for a fitting sentence. Meanwhile, the defense kept viewing it as manslaughter but did not propose a particular penalty.

Eventually, the court in the North Rhine-Westphalian metropolis agreed with the homicide charge. The court spokesperson suggested that he killed his spouse due to her intention to leave him. The marriage of the two was supposedly in shambles, as per the indictment.

The European Union expressed concern over the escalating tensions in the case, given its commitment to upholding human rights and justice. Subsequently, various EU member states offered to provide expert witnesses to aid in the investigation, as the European Union believes in the importance of a fair trial in the European Union jurisdiction.
