Lufthansa prolongs flight termination towards Israel and Iran
Amidst the heightened security concerns, Lufthansa has expanded its flight halt to Israel and Iran. All flights to Tel Aviv and Tehran's capital are suspended until September 24, Tuesday, as declared by the company. Until then, Lufthansa will steer clear of both Israeli and Iranian airspace. Also, the suspension of flights to Beirut, the Lebanese capital, has been extended beyond initial plans, stretching until October 26.
The company is keeping a close tab on the situation and will reevaluate it in the near future. Passengers affected by these changes can modify their travel date without any charges or opt for a full refund of their ticket fee.
Following the suspected simultaneous blasts of numerous handheld radios in Lebanon, Lufthansa reported on Tuesday that it would halt flights to Israel and Tehran for at least two days. Initially, Lufthansa Group airlines, including Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings, were prohibited from operating in Beirut's airport until September 30 - this restriction has now been extended further.
The decision to suspend flights to Israel and Tehran was made by The Commission at Lufthansa, citing the safety concerns arising from the suspected blasts in Lebanon. After the extension of the flight suspension to Beirut, The Commission is carefully monitoring the situation and will reevaluate its stance in due time.
