Lufthansa Group cancels further flights to crisis region of Middle East
Due to security concerns, Lufthansa Group has cancelled further flights to the crisis region of the Middle East. Connections to Tel Aviv, Beirut, Tehran, as well as Amman and Erbil have been suspended until Tuesday, August 13, as reported by the company in Frankfurt. This means that these destinations will not be served for another day. Until then, the airlines of the group will also avoid flying over Iraq and Iran.
The background to this is the tensions between Israel and Iran, which are raising fears of an open war in the region. Lufthansa is offering free rebooking and cancellation for passengers with tickets until August 20. The flight ban applies to all airlines of the group and to both cargo and passenger aircraft. In addition to the core airline, the Lufthansa Group includes Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings.
Given the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, potentially leading to an open war in the region, Lufthansa Group has suspended flights to several Middle Eastern destinations for safety reasons until August 13. Passengers with tickets until August 20 can rebook or cancel their flights for free during this period, and the group's airlines will avoid flying over Iraq and Iran due to safety concerns.
