Los Angeles Lakers dismiss Darvin Ham as head coach following a two-year tenure.
Darvin Ham, a 50-year-old coach, achieved a 90-74 record over two seasons while leading the Lakers. During this time, he even took them to the Western Conference Finals last season. However, their recent elimination from the NBA playoffs after five games against the Denver Nuggets marks the end of his role as head coach.
In a statement, Rob Pelinka, Lakers' vice president of basketball operations and general manager, expressed their gratitude towards Ham for his efforts during his tenure. He highlighted the accomplishments from the past two seasons, including their fantastic run to the Western Conference Finals.
Despite being thankful for Ham's dedication and positive attitude, Pelinka revealed that it was a tough decision to let him go following a thorough review of the season. He assured the fans that the Lakers will stay committed to delivering championship-level basketball.
Prior to becoming the Lakers' head coach, Ham served as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks, and Lakers between 2011 and 2013.
