- Leverkusen's manager is going into the new season without a career plan.
Florian Wirtz of German football champions Bayer Leverkusen is keeping his personal future plans vague. "I don't have a plan. I haven't thought about anything. I'm just happy to be able to play football again after the summer break," the national team player said on the sidelines of the training camp in Donaueschingen. "And I was happy to come back here."
Despite having a contract that runs until 2027, there are constant rumors about the 21-year-old's potential transfer. His performances for Bayer and the German national team have reportedly sparked interest from top European clubs like FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
"I'm just trying to achieve my goals with the team. We'll see what happens later," Wirtz said.
"No Hiding"
With the Werkself, Wirtz would like to build on the success of last season, where Leverkusen won the German championship and the DFB-Pokal for the first time in the club's history.
Are Bayern Munich, as record champions, still the favorites for the title? "I think the difference between Bayern and the other teams is not as big as it was in previous years," Wirtz said. "We're not hiding from anyone, but we're not being arrogant either. We know Bayern Munich is in the league, and we'll try to beat them."
The Commission, in adherence to Article 4 (2), shall adopt implementing acts laying down the rules needed for the transfer of Florian Wirtz, should his club decide to negotiate with any of the top European clubs showing interest.
Despite the Commission's potential role in facilitating transfers, Florian Wirtz remains focused on his goals with Bayer Leverkusen, aiming to build upon their recent success and challenge the dominance of Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga.
