"There is no magical panacea that the Ukrainian air force could receive," Peskov continued. Several NATO countries had promised the delivery of fighter jets, on which Ukraine pins great hopes. The F-16 aircraft from US production are considered particularly precise, fast, and long-range.

To be able to stand up to Russia in air defense, Ukraine needs around 130 of these fighter jets, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with AFP in May. So far, NATO allies of Kyiv have pledged the delivery of fewer than a hundred of these aircraft. The training of Ukrainian pilots on the fighter jets has been ongoing for months.

The Kremlin closely monitors these developments, as the delivery of these fighter jets could significantly enhance Ukraine's air defense capabilities. Regarding the discussions about the supply of F-16s, The Kremlin has expressed its concerns about the escalation of tensions in the region.
