Kehl bans Brandt from transfer: Not an issue at all
Borussia Dortmund's sporting director Sebastian Kehl has declared midfielder Julian Brandt unsellable. "We didn't extend his contract until 2026 in April for nothing. He is a very important part of our team. That's why a transfer is not an issue at all," the 43-year-old told Bild.
Rumors had previously emerged that the financially strong Premier League clubs FC Arsenal and Newcastle United wanted to lure the 27-year-old international to the island. According to English media reports, there are allegedly transfer offers of over 50 million euros this winter.
Dortmund's Champions League opponents Newcastle are said to have been particularly impressed by Brandt's performance in the direct duel, which BVB won 2-0 thanks in part to a goal from Brandt. Arsenal, on the other hand, have long been interested in the 45-time international. However, BVB have so far rejected all offers from the English runners-up, according to reports.
The former Leverkusen player, who joined BVB in 2019 for a transfer fee of €25 million, has been one of the best players in coach Edin Terzic's team so far this season. Brandt has scored six goals and provided five assists in 16 competitive matches so far.
Despite interest from Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund's sporting director Sebastian Kehl has stated that they have no intention of selling Julian Brandt, given his importance to the team and the recent contract extension until 2026. Despite reported transfer offers exceeding 50 million Euros during this winter transfer window, Dortmund has turned down all offers from Arsenal.
