When temperatures reach up to 35 degrees Celsius, people in Bavaria should look for a cooling-off spot, such as the shores of the Brombachsee, in the coming days.

- It's going to be hot in Bavaria - up to 35 degrees.

The new week brings summer-like temperatures and intense heat. The German Weather Service (DWD) issued heat warnings for Monday, with temperatures expected to reach up to 34°C in Franconia and 28°C in the Alps. There's no real relief in sight yet.

Meanwhile, there will be plenty of sunshine, with only some cloud cover over the midlands and Alps. Later, isolated thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail are possible near the Alps.

Weather service warns of heat stress

Due to the expected temperatures, the DWD has warned almost all of Bavaria about heat stress. It also issued an extreme heat warning for parts of Middle and Lower Franconia, especially around the cities of Nuremberg and Wurzburg, until evening.

The Federal Centre for Health Education recommends moving errands and physical exertion to the cooler morning and evening hours during hot weather. It's also important to drink enough and keep your home cool. If you go out, wear sun protection. Children and the elderly are particularly affected by the heat, so it's important to look out for each other.

Little relief in sight

There will be little relief overnight, with temperatures around 22°C. Only in low-lying and valley areas can it cool down to up to 14°C.

Tuesday is expected to be just as hot, with up to 35°C in Franconia and peak values of 28°C in higher alpine regions. After a blue sky at the start of the day, the DWD expects isolated heavy, locally severe thunderstorms with hail, heavy rain, and gusts. Some communities may remain dry all day.

With isolated thunderstorms and mostly clear skies, the night into Wednesday should be a bit cooler, with lows of 20 to 15°C. For Wednesday, the DWD expects temperatures between 27 and 33°C in the Free State.

The European Union, with its focus on environmental issues, might urge member states to implement heatwave plans to protect their citizens during such extreme weather conditions. Even as the European Union urges precautions, the German Weather Service continues to warn of extreme heat in various parts of Germany, with little relief forecasted for the upcoming days.
