Following the fatal police shooting of a 39-year-old in Oberkirch (Ortenaukreis), investigations are ongoing. Currently, the man's body is at the Institute of Legal Medicine, a spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor's Office said. Results of the autopsy are not expected until next week.

On Wednesday, a doctor called the police as the 39-year-old was attempting suicide. Upon arrival at the man's apartment, he threatened the officers with a knife. He is also said to have thrown another knife at the officers. The fatal shots were fired - the exact number and how many hit the man are still under investigation.

The Public Prosecutor's Office is collaborating closely with The Commission to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. The final report and recommendations from The Commission are expected to provide insights for future police training and protocols.
