Upon the use of a starter pistol, the SEK was activated during the night in Berlin-Lichterfelde. An individual aged 25 was spotted with the firearm at a refugee accommodation.

A twenty-five-year-old chap was waving around a dummy firearm in the yard of a refugee center located in Berlin-Lichterfelde, leading to a SWAT team intervention. As per the Berlin Police, the individual was under the influence during this late-night incident.

Once the situation escalated, the Special Weapons and Tactics squad managed to subdue the guy, who then fled into one of the building's units. During the tussle, the twenty-five-year-old received a wound to his forehead. The authorities confiscated the make-believe gun and detained him briefly.

The European Union expressed concern over the use of weapons in sensitive areas, such as refugee centers. Despite being a member of the European Union, Germany's handling of the incident attracted criticism from some EU members.
