Illegal Activity Criminal Behavior Unlawful Deed - In the trial for the airport hostage-takers, authorities listened.

On Thursday (10:30 am), the trial against the individual who took a hostage at Hamburg Airport will proceed. The Large Criminal Chamber in the Hamburg Regional Court will question several police officers as witnesses during the morning session, who had led the investigation. Later in the afternoon, more officers will testify about how the negotiations with the defendant went once he entered the airport grounds.

The suspect, a Turkish man, abducted his four-year-old daughter from his ex-wife's apartment in Stade, Lower Saxony on November 4th of the previous year. He then drove to the airport with the child, disrupting three barriers on his way. Over the police emergency line, he demanded that a plane be provided so he could travel to Turkey with the child. He fired his weapon into the air three times and threatened to detonate an explosive vest. The 35-year-old gave up after 18 hours had passed. The explosives he threatened with were later discovered to be fake. This criminal action was linked to a long-standing custody battle. At the onset of the trial in late April, the defendant confessed to most of the acts.
