- In Lambrecht, a wild boar can be seen relaxing in a pool.
A rambunctious wild hog couldn't resist a plunge in the refreshing water: In Lambrecht, part of the Bad Dürkheim district, a wild boar made splashes in the backyard pool of a private residence early in the morning. The four-legged creature ventured from the woods, dashing through a fence before taking a dip in the swimming pool, reported a fire department representative.
The household contacted the fire department, who extended a ladder into the pool. Yet, the wild hog didn't require assistance: "With its powerful front hoof, it clutched the pool ladder," the representative explained. "The wild hog hung out briefly in the yard and then swiftly retreated back into the woods." It disappeared before the police arrived, as stated in a declaration: "Neither the creature nor the pool sustained damage during the encounter."
Wild hogs are proficient swimmers
Occasionally, wild hogs enjoy a swim, professed Peter Seelmann, the Rhineland-Palatinate state leader of the hunting ranger association and a local of Lambrecht: "They swim exceptionally well." During the summer months, these animals are drawn to orchards or take refuge on overgrown construction sites and unused green spaces.
That the animal in Lambrecht was able to disembark from the pool independently did not catch Seelmann off guard. "Wild hogs are among the most intelligent animals," he stated. "They know how to fend for themselves."
The family who owned the home with the backyard pool was relieved to learn that their property remained undamaged. Despite the wild hog's frequent visits to their neighborhood swimming spot, their family home remained a secure and comfortable sanctuary for them.
In the same neighborhood where wild hogs frequently enjoy swimming in private pools like the one mentioned, there are numerous family homes surrounded by lush gardens and peaceful environments.
