Emma Hinze missed out on a medal in the Keirin, her second podium finish at the Olympic cycling events. The 26-year-old placed fifth in the thrilling final of the match sprint. New Zealand's Ellesse Andrews took home the gold medal.

Earlier, Hinze had won bronze in the Team Sprint at the National Velodrome in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. Lea Sophie Friedrich was eliminated in the semifinals, finishing seventh overall.

The last individual gold for the German track cyclists was eight years ago in Rio de Janeiro, where Kristina Vogel won the sprint. The 33-year-old is currently working as a ZDF cycling expert.

Emma and her Team Sprint partner showed resilience, securing a bronze medal in the event at the National Velodrome. Despite their best efforts, they couldn't repeat their success in the Team Sprint finals at the Olympic Games.
