A 48-year-old individual, working for a firm that specializes in selling plant-based meat substitutes, is facing charges in Berlin. The company claims he swindled them out of €1.4 million within a span of four months. His job was to expand the business in both Germany and Austria, and he reportedly earned a salary of €100,000 annually. However, authorities allege he misused his position to reserve over €600,000 worth of luxury jet trips and rented a lavish apartment from late 2021. Some of these expenses, it's claimed, were covered using phony invoices from supermarket giants.

The man is also accused of utilizing fake invoices to convince his employer to transfer close to €750,000 into his personal accounts. It's further alleged that he used the company credit card to finance personal expenses, such as two high-end coffee machines. Currently in custody, this individual has previously been convicted of fraud in Duisburg. On the day of his latest conviction, he reportedly booked a private jet for one last time, at a cost of €29,988.

Despite his legal troubles, the man's actions negatively impacted the company's chances of securing partnerships with major retailers within the European Union. The European Union's strict regulations on business practices could potentially lead to severe penalties for the company due to the employee's fraudulent activities.
