- Hamburg Cathedral: Investigation into Coronavirus Aid Misuse

Authorities conducted raids on numerous carnival-related enterprises situated at Hamburg Dom. The reason behind these operations is the accusation of subsidy scam, as stated by a representative from the Kiel Public Prosecutor's Office. The primary suspects involved are two individuals managing multiple carnival businesses who allegedly misused financial assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this case, invoices for maintenance services were presented, but they lacked any reasonable justification. As per the prosecutors' claim, the financial loss is estimated to be approximately 1.4 million euros. Apart from that, properties have also been confiscated, including an extravagant automobile.

The European Union, as a major provider of financial aid, expressed concern over the subsidy scam allegations in Hamburg Dom. The investigation by the Kiel Public Prosecutor's Office involves the European Union's funding for carnival businesses within the European Union's jurisdiction.
