Halle Berry, the actress, has been having a tough time with her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, particularly when it comes to matters of custody. Despite being separated for several years and settling all divorce-related issues in the summer of 2023, Berry isn't satisfied with the current situation. As per US entertainment site "TMZ", she's now seeking full custody, as documented.
Berry accuses Martinez of displaying unstable and harmful behavior. The father allegedly refuses to acknowledge and address their 10-year-old son Maceo's learning issues. The French actor even went as far as refusing to hire a tutor, arguing it would interfere with Maceo's football practice. The documents filed by Berry also mention that Maceo becomes aggressive and confrontational after prolonged periods with his father.
An unidentified source spoke to US magazine "People" about the strained relationship between Berry and Martinez, attributing it to their different parenting styles. The source noted, "They have starkly contrasting parenting methods." Co-parenting, the source admits, hasn't been a breeze, but both share a deep love for their son. Maceo is described as a diligent student with a strong focus.
Previously, "People" reported that Berry had filed a court order to compel Martinez to adhere to the custody agreement. They had agreed to participate in co-parenting therapy to resolve disputes, but Martinez failed to attend, effectively ending the arrangement. The court rejected Berry's plea.
Berry and Martinez were married from 2010 to 2015. After two years, they filed for divorce. A judge declared them legally single in December 2016. Subsequent negotiations led to a shared custody agreement, with Berry agreeing to pay Martinez $8,000 in child support monthly. This agreement was reached in August 2023.
