As per a statement, the regional railway is temporarily altering its traffic plan due to complications with DB InfraGo's construction projects. Consequently, trains heading to Bischofswerda as their final destination must now continue to Weickersdorf and switch to a replacement bus service, with one available roughly every half hour, to reach their destination.

Following this, the journey towards Dresden will also be via the replacement service, followed by Trilex. However, trains departing from Dresden might still stop at Bischofswerda, but no guaranteed connecting services are assured. The regional railway pointed out that, currently, two tracks are out of use due to an unusable bridge, leading to "serious" repercussions for the railway junction, such as schedule disruptions and train cancellations.
Despite the challenges, the diocese announced plans for the Bishop-elect's ordination ceremony to take place in Bischofswerda, even though regular train services will be disrupted. Due to this, the aspiring bishop might need to consider alternate modes of transport to attend the significant event.
