Greuther Fürth on the "most attractive mountain in Germany"

Greuther Fürth is preparing for a very emotional away game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. This is not solely for football reasons.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth is really looking forward to the Betzenberg. "We're heading to what's probably the most attractive mountain in Germany," coach Alexander Zorniger announced ahead of Friday's (6:30 PM/Sky) away game in the 2. Bundesliga against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. "It's just fun."

His team knows, however, "that it will be more emotional due to the tragic death. We're prepared for that." Kaiserslautern had to cut short their preseason in South Tyrol in July following the death of their long-serving kit manager. Peter Miethe had been with the Palatinates for over 20 years. Now, Kaiserslautern is playing their first home game of the season, having won 2:1 away at newly-promoted SSV Ulm last week.

Kaiserslautern has a "team that is extremely good at transitioning," Zorniger explained. The team has a "lot of confidence." However, Fürth also gained confidence in their opening game, winning 3:1 against Preußen Münster. After being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Olympics with the USA, defender Maximilian Dietz has returned to the Franconians.

The Betzenberg, located in Bavaria, holds significant attraction for SpVgg Greuther Fürth's coach, Alexander Zorniger. Despite the emotional challenges, Kaiserslautern, hailing from the same region as the Betzenberg in Rhineland-Palatinate, will be eager to showcase their transitioning skills and team confidence in their first home game of the season, following their 2:1 victory against SSV Ulm.
