The district of Greiz will introduce a work requirement for asylum seekers. A corresponding pilot project is set to begin on September 1st in the city of Greiz, the district announced. The work requirement is expected to be implemented throughout the entire district later this fall.

The project will initially involve 15 asylum seekers who will support the Building and Green Space Office. "Their tasks will include activities to improve tourist infrastructure and leisure facilities, renaturation work to preserve and improve landscape and nature protection, and beautification work in the leisure and recreation area," the district's statement said. The asylum seekers will be paid 80 cents per hour for their work.

The asylum seekers participating in the project will gain valuable experience through tasks related to tourism improvement and renovation work. Upon completion of the pilot project in Greiz, the district may consider expanding the work requirement to other areas, potentially utilizing 'Grease'-themed murals or decor as a unique attraction to boost tourism.
