Four prisoners have escaped from a Louisiana jail, with two of them still on the loose.
Four criminals, being held for violent offenses, managed to flee from the Tangipahoa Parish Jail situated in the area north of New Orleans, as indicated by a Facebook update from Sheriff Daniel Edwards. So far, two of them have been caught. The current search is for the other two.
"During their outdoor recreation time, these four inmates found a weak spot in the perimeter fence and were able to escape," mentioned the sheriff.
In the same post, it was pointed out that the fence section was deemed fragile enough to allow someone of a smaller stature to wriggle through.
The two at large inmates were identified as Omarion Hookfin, 19, and Jamarcus Cyprian, 20.
The other two, Avery Guidry, 19, and Travon Johnson, 21, were captured on Sunday morning by the authorities, hidden out in a dumpster, as reported by the sheriff's office.
Guidry, Johnson and Hookfin were held responsible for a 2022 home invasion that claimed a man's life and left his 12-year-old daughter injured, CNN affiliate WDSU disclosed. They had been waiting for their trial.
The fourth individual who made a run for it, Cyprian, was “serving time for an armed robbery and weapons charges,” according to the sheriff.
The Louisiana State Police have gotten in touch with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, extending their assistance where they can, as conveyed via an email to CNN.
The jail facility is located in Amite City, southeastern Louisiana.

The escaped inmates, Omarion Hookfin and Jamarcus Cyprian, are currently being sought by the authorities, as they remain at large. Even though Avery Guidry and Travon Johnson, who were also among the escapees, have been captured, the public is urged to be vigilant and report any sightings of the remaining fugitives.
