Former Foreign Minister Sarif appointed Vice President of Iran

Mohammad Javad Zarif served as Iran's Foreign Minister from 2013 to 2021 under the reformist President Hassan Rouhani. He gained international recognition for his role in the 2015 nuclear negotiations. Zarif is often referred to as the architect of the deal. In 2018, the United States, under President Donald Trump, unilaterally withdrew from the agreement and reimposed sanctions.

During his campaign, Peseschkian advocated for ending Iran's "isolation" and promised to revive the nuclear deal to lift the imposed sanctions.

Peseschkian's proposal to revive the nuclear deal aims to alleviate Iran's economic struggles, which stem from the other international sanctions still in place. Zarif, known as the architect of the original deal, could potentially offer valuable insights during negotiations.
