An 87-year-old woman has been injured in a fire in an apartment building in Haren (Emsland district). The woman was woken early on Friday morning by the smell of smoke and became aware of the fire in the living room, according to the police.

The affected apartment is currently uninhabitable. The 87-year-old woman was taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. The police were initially unable to provide any information on the exact amount of damage or cause of the fire on Friday morning.
