Farmers' association: Farmers benefited from sharp rise in food prices
German farmers have also benefited from the sharp rise in food prices. In the 2022/23 marketing year, which ended in June, the average company profit rose to an all-time high of 115,400 euros per farm, as announced by the German Farmers' Association in Berlin on Thursday. Compared to the previous marketing year, this represents an increase of 45%.
According to the information, agricultural producer prices rose significantly more than the prices for operating resources. Almost all types of farms benefited from this - with the exception of wine and fruit growers. However, the outlook is pessimistic: "We will not be able to maintain the good results," said Farmers' President Joachim Rukwied. With costs remaining high, prices for grain, oilseeds and milk are now falling sharply.
