- Escalating disputes - wounded in knife attack

Violent clashes, involving the use of knives, have left several people injured in Berlin. A young man suffered a life-threatening stab wound to the abdomen in Kreuzberg on Tuesday evening as a dispute between two groups escalated. The man had to undergo emergency surgery, according to police. A 31-year-old participant also sustained stab wounds to the back but was able to leave the hospital after treatment.

The reason why the groups were fighting in a park on the Segitzdamm between Oranienplatz and Wassertorplatz, using glass bottles, remains unclear, police said. A 31-year-old man, suspected of being involved in the altercation, was arrested nearby. Police are still investigating whether he was the one who attacked the men with the knife.
