Diesel has not been as cheap as it has been for over a year.

Diesel is as cheap as it has been in over a year. The price of the fuel has dropped by 1.9 cents in just a week, according to the ADAC. On Tuesday, the average price nationwide was 1.607 euros per liter. It was last cheaper in early July 2023. Super E10 gasoline also fell by 1.9 cents, reaching its lowest level since February 6 of this year at an average of 1.734 euros per liter.

Both fuel types are resuming their downward trend of recent months, after prices had stagnated in the previous week. The ADAC cites the recent drop in oil prices as the main driver of this decrease. However, it is uncertain whether these favorable levels for drivers will persist, as an escalation in the Middle East could quickly push oil and fuel prices back up.

The recent drop in oil prices has contributed to both diesel and super E10 gasoline resuming their downward trend. Despite this, other factors like geopolitical tensions in the Middle East could potentially halt or reverse this trend.
