Darmstadt expects Lieberknecht to return
Promoted Darmstadt 98 are expecting head coach Torsten Lieberknecht to return after the upcoming international break. "Torsten will be concentrating fully on his family in the coming week. However, we firmly assume that he will be back for the next championship match," said Lieberknecht's assistant Ovid Hajou on Saturday after the 0-0 draw in the Bundesliga against FSV Mainz 05.
Lieberknecht had taken time off work at the start of the week after his wife Simone suffered a stroke and was therefore not on the bench against Mainz. "But we were in contact throughout the week and prepared the game together," reported Hajou.
There was even a brief phone call between Lieberknecht and team manager Matthias Neumann during the half-time break. "He was completely involved," said Hajou about the head coach. The Hessians will play their next Bundesliga match on November 25 at Europa League participants SC Freiburg.
Despite the upcoming international break, Soccer team Darmstadt 98 is hopeful that Bundesliga coach Torsten Lieberknecht will return after addressing personal matters. Following their 0-0 draw against FSV Mainz 05, Lieberknecht's assistant, Ovid Hajou, revealed that the head coach will rejoin the team for the subsequent Bundesliga match against SC Freiburg, renowned for their Europa League participation.
